Day 1 Cape Town

On your arrival into Cape Town at the start of your African Safari, you will be met and transferred to your hotel

. Depending on your time of arrival, you can relax at the hotel or head to the vibrant Victoria & Alfred waterfront with its seafood restaurants, local craft shops and markets and the Two Oceans Aquarium.

Day 2 Cape of Good Hope

After breakfast, one of the experienced guides on fynbos will take you on a private day tour including a stop at Camp’s Bay.

 

Day 3 Franschhoek

Cape Town and South Africa are renowned for their world class wines and today you have the opportunity to visit one of the wine estates in the region with a local wine guide. Your day starts with cheese tasting in the 200 year old barn at La Grange Fromagerie and chocolate tasting at the Franschhoek Chocolate factory with lunch at one of the top wine estates in South Africa. After lunch and wine tasting you return to Franschhoek with time to relax before heading back to Cape Town.

 

Day 4 Garden Route

After breakfast, you will be transferred to Cape Town International Airport where you will collect your rental vehicle giving you the full day to drive

along the coast to Plettenberg Bay and to your lodge.

Hog Hollow Country Lodge is situated in a private nature reserve not far from the local town of Plettenberg Bay. Set on the edge of an indigenous forest, the lodge has breathtaking views of the surrounding valleys and the Tsitsikamma Mountains. Accommodation is in whitewashed cottages, with ethnic styling, en-suite facilities and with small fireplaces and wooden decks overlooking the ravine. Abundant birdlife and marked walking trails make Hog Hollow a nature lover’s paradise. The house is few minutes’ drive from the famous Monkeyland (a primate sanctuary in natural forestry lands backing onto the reserve) and the stunning beaches of Plettenberg Bay. There are several specialist activities that can be arranged from Hog Hollow, including flips in light aircraft to see dolphins in the bay and boat cruises on the Keurbooms River.

Day 7 - 9 Suburbs of Oudenbosch

After a leisurely breakfast, travel through to Rosenhof Country House.

The drive is approximately two hours. The Rosenhof is situated in one of the tree-lined suburbs of Oudtshoorn, close to the centre of town. Owner run, this delightful Victorian house has been beautifully restored, is furnished with antiques and is a true home from home.

Accommodation: Rosenhof Country House is a very beautiful guesthouse, each room is individually decorated and boasts private en suite bathrooms. Facilities at the lodge include a restaurant offering home cooked country cuisine, a lounge, swimming pool and atrium. The lodge is ideally situated for guests wishing to visit the Cango Caves, ostrich farms and the crocodile ranches.

 

Day 10- 12 Shamwari

Depart from Rosenhof and travel through to Bayethe Lodge in the Shamwari Game Reserve. The drive will take approximately five hours. Bayethe Lodge, pronounced "bi-ye-ti", is a luxury, eighteen bedded, tented lodge in Shamwari Game Reserve. The main lodge of stone walls and thatched roof, accommodates the lounge, dining room, an outdoor boma, swimming pool and viewing deck overlooking the Buffalo River. This area of the Shamwari Game Reserve is spectacular with rolling hills covered in aloe’s and many other indigenous Eastern Cape plant species – six biomes come together here, one of which is commonly known as the Zuurveld - with abundant succulents and many flowering plant species. There are open plains and a most amazing natural indigenous forest with

yellowwood trees that are hundreds of years old, set along the Buffalo River which is the ideal habitat for the Knysna Lo urie and many forest bird species. Activities offered include morning and evening big five game drives in open land rovers, guided nature walks and bird watching all with experienced game rangers.

 

Accommodation: Bayethe Lodge Bayethe is a splendid stone walled and thatch roofed lodge with a

large deck area overlooking a waterhole. There is a double volume lounge and dining area which spills out onto the deck which is adjacent to the outside boma for traditional fireside dining under the stars. The 9 luxury tents are camouflaged under trees allowing for ample privacy and unsurpassed comforts. Each tent is air-conditioned and heated and has an en-suite bathroom, shower, private plunge pool and viewing deck.

 

Day 13

After morning game drive and breakfast, drive through to Port Elizabeth Airport where you will leave your rental vehicle. Your drive will take approximately one and half hours.
